If one decides to come out of alcohol addiction, one should understand the whole process well and then go on to take the next step in this regard. The problem with alcohol addiction is that the entire body is used to having alcohol in its system and when one stops taking alcohol all of a sudden then it would have a huge impact on one’s overall well being. The alcohol withdrawal phase is quite difficult and the symptoms involved occur when one has developed a dependence on alcohol and hurriedly quits. Excessive ingestion of Alcohol leads to alcohol dependence which alters the brain chemical make-up and functions and even structure to a great extent. This causes a lot of issues. When one has too much of alcohol on a regular basis, the brain adjusts itself accordingly by making changes in the neurotransmitter leading to withdrawal symptoms.

Neurotransmitters in the brain can communicate information throughout the entire body and brain. As a depressant, Alcohol at first increases the effects of the neurotransmitter GABA, and in turn this chemical produces the feelings of relaxation and well-being. It is also known to decreases the effects of glutamate, a neurotransmitter that produces certain other feelings. The entire systems come to a collapse when rare drinking transitions to chronic alcohol consumption. In such scenario, the brain attempts to preserve normal function despite the presence of Alcohol by suppressing GABA and increasing glutamate. This would go on to have a lasting impact on one’s health over a period of time.
